How NowGlobe is built

A source-first directory of public live views, with availability checks and original viewing context.

01

Purpose and scope

NowGlobe helps people explore public live cameras without losing the context of who operates a stream, where it is located, and when it is useful to watch. The site covers Japan and the wider world without treating any one region as its center.

The current catalog focuses on public YouTube live streams that can be checked consistently. Official image cameras, road and river cameras, and other first-party formats may be added only after their display and rights conditions can be handled clearly.

All visible streams appear in one catalog and include a stream-specific viewing note. Automated search is used behind the scenes to find candidates and check availability, rather than being presented as a separate directory.

02

Selection criteria

A stream must have an identifiable source, a meaningful place or subject, and a public page that permits the intended viewing method. We prefer original operators and official channels. Aggregator pages can help discovery, but they are not treated as the source when a first-party page is available.

  • Public and reachable from a stable source page
  • Location, subject, and operator can be described without guessing
  • Embedding is used only when the platform reports it as allowed
  • Duplicate restreams and misleading titles are excluded
03

Availability checks and dates

YouTube entries are checked through the YouTube Data API. Live, upcoming, ended, unavailable, and non-embeddable states are classified separately, and ended or unusable entries are removed from the visible list when the formal check is available. New-stream discovery refreshes after 24 hours; established location pages receive a full availability check after seven days. Temporary API failures are retried sooner without deleting the last successful catalog.

A newly found stream is linked to a permanent location page only after it is observed live on at least three separate days across at least 48 hours, its source and location metadata remain stable, and the location can be identified with high confidence. A strong match updates an existing location page; otherwise a new stable location URL is created. Streams that do not meet every condition remain viewable without being added to the sitemap or search index.

04

Original notes and factual limits

Descriptions and viewing suggestions are written for NowGlobe rather than copied from a source. They distinguish observable subject matter from recommendations. Schedules, wildlife appearances, transport movements, and weather are never inferred as facts when no reliable source supports them.

05

Commercial relationships

NowGlobe may show clearly labeled display advertising in designated sponsored areas. Sponsorship and affiliate relationships do not determine whether a camera is included or how it is described. Commercial modules are separated from playback controls. Auto-detected camera pages are not monetized until they meet the site's location and stability checks.
